Ultimately, simplified products are a way for corporations to satisfy their customers needs. These days most products have the basic functions we need, but most people prefer to have more functions simply because they can. Its common to find that the most successful products are not quite so simple. There still seems to be quite a conflict between what people think they want versus what they really want. Most would agree that consumers wants simplicity, but many times this is a subconscious need and is not at the forefront of many individual purchase decision. The market, it seems, is gravitating towards creating more usable products as a result of technologies become more and more complex.

bsaghini thinks: Simply put, customers will choose the path of least resistance. Inevitably products that are well designed are more likely to become successful in the marektplace, and ultimately make a profit for the company producing them.
JBonnin thinks: Maybe customers don´t rate simplicity as a key decision criteria consciously... but one does not invest in what is not understood. If this very common statement was not true, we would all invest in the stockmarket.
