Coporate culture
"It seems that these days corporations tend to squeeze as much out of their customers (ie the public) as they can. They have little regard for service and fairness as long as they make money - they care very little. "
Corporate culture seems to have shaped our society in many different ways. We are told to work hard in order to live well, although working hard is not guarenteeed to pay off and does not ensure that we will live well. This creates a paradox in which there is no clear distinction if we actually work to live or live to work. It seems it is up to the individual to create a balance between work and their personal lives. It is up to the individual as to what they are willing to sacrifice. Perhaps working hard may make you more money, but may not necessarily make one happy.

JBonnin thinks: The contemporary paradox is that we do work hard in order to be able to live well, not lacking anything that ensures a confortable safe life.

It is great to be highly involved with our work. But we end by creating a hard working habit, through which we forget how is life out of work.

How many people get down when retired?

toothpaste thinks: I have got to agree athough I worked the last 22 years for a great employer though to think of it it was the culture in my section that made it great. You are in danger ( not me I took early retirement in March at 56) of getting wrapped up in the culture of the company/norm and driving yourself into the ground. DO NOT get caught in this ratrace DO NOT work youself into a position of indespensibility because if you do the only person that thinks it will be YOU. If you leave for whatever reason the first 2 weeks people will say I wish xxxx was here to do this he/she was brilliant, the second 2 weeks you would be missed. The second month they will be saying WHO!!!!! beleive me I have been there.
