priceaam questions:
Electronics & Planes
As travel becomes more affordable and the cost of technology devices drop I find more and more passengers using electronics on airplanes. Should passengers be allowed to fly and use all of their electronic devices including cell phones, mp3 players, laptops, and gps devices.
View A
I think we should be able to use electronics on planes. I have never seen or heard of a case where a laptop, phone, or mp3 player would interfere with any air traffic control device. The shutting down for take off and landing is unneccessary.
View B
We shouldn't allow electronics on planes because of security and common courtesy. I cannot stand being forced to listen to people and their conversations on cell phones. It would be horrible to be on a flight that allowed cell phone use. Electronics can also cause concern for safety as they could be used to detonate explosives or aid in mid air terrorist activities.

meghorne34 thinks: I completely agree. We need to examine the implications of using these devices and find a way where they can be allowed during air travel.
sans1 thinks: We should let people enjoy their flight. When I take a plane I am glad I can sleep at last! Please, don't force me to do something else.
worldcitizen thinks: Surely sound, unbiased research is needed? Then it needs putting into a format that's non-technical but which intelligent people can use to determine a viewpoint that is evidence-based. It seems all guesswork, heresay and prejudice so far....
digiammarco thinks: Not only should it be allowed to use electronics... but they should actually be provided by the airline. In Branso's words, you should be having fun everytime you pay for a service, shouldn't you?
roxinante thinks: It would be helpful if airline routinely provided internet access, media player etc. at your seat and with the possibility to plug in a device containing personal data.
roberta thinks: its pretty obvious that if we are told by the 'experts' not to use the electrical equipment there is a reason for it.....what is the point in risking??? its a blessing not to use the blimin' things for a few hours and we're talking about lives here. to switch off does everyone good.
Roadmeister thinks: All within reason. From a technology standpoint travellers should be able to use their devices in flight. From a social standpoint, usage of technology should not hinder other passengers. On many trains they have found a solution where some compartments are silent, other offer entertainment etc.

It might also be sensible to ban usage of 'noise makers' during night flights.

JBonnin thinks: As long as one has headphones, there should not be any restrictions to how a passenger spends his/her flight. In concern to security issues, I leave it to the experts.
dreve thinks: yes we should! my frd once forgot to switch off her mobile and always receive a welcome msg fr central asia when she flew over. I think using electronic goods are alright, and even, they shd install a plug! I can't see why there's a security issue if the airliner already providing us on-board entertainment. Why not bring our own?
