JBonnin questions:
Watering plants.
I have herbs and small trees in my flat, which make my life much fuller and pleasant. The problem is when I have to travel. It is so frustrating to come home and see many of them dead!

Isn“t is possible a domestic watering system that can be programmed?

To have automatic plant watering at home would make us lose the opportunity of taking care of them ourselves, which is such an opportunity to relax from daily stress.

paris thinks: It would be fantastic if such a watering system would exist. Plants aren't just enjoyable for those who have a very settled lifestyle, they are a delight for everybody and such a solution would surely be sueful for many.
AstridF thinks: Would be nice to have when you go on holiday, so you dont have to rely on the neighbours.
idesign thinks: A plant is a living thing and I can't help but treat it like a living, breathing part of my home almost like a pet. It's important to nurture a plant and take care of it. If you're not a green thumb and don't want to take care of your plant, get a plastic one.
SimplyOverwhelmed thinks: While I agree that taking care of a plant is a nurturing activity, I don't want to be held hostage by my plants. For occasions like holidays and business trips, I would love to know my plants were being 'babysat.'
ssp thinks: I can't stand house plants even though I love nature/plants. Plants should be where they belong: outside.
Maven thinks: If you want plants, take care of them. Caring for plants as with anything that is living takes care and nurturing. you wouldn't autmatically feed your goldfish or dog would you?
dalboy18 thinks: Looking after your house plants whilst you are away! based on how lobg you are away a good way to ensure your little green friends are happy and healthy to see you when you return is to do the following - prior to leaving place all you plants without the drip tray in the bottom of your bath, put a small amount of water in the bottom (with the Plug in), this will ensure a good amount of water and with all the plants togeather will increase the amount of humidity - make sure the bathroom door is closed. If you don't hav a bath then a shower cubical will do if you don't have a heap of plants - this works for all indoor plants except cacti which injoy neglect any way - kiwi green thumb. Good luck
SacredVermin thinks: If it's just herbs, then you should consider investing in hydroponics. Till then, there's plenty of urban community gardens. 5 minutes, some hoses, and some regulating hardware and you can have one set up anyway.
