Simple auto maintenance
Alexkaatsch thinks: As a qualified vehicle engineer with some development experience, I'm always amazed with the end-user's ignorance of their motor car's workings. In reality, the mechanical side of a car, the bit that's fixable, is much simpler than the cars our parents and forebearers had to regularly maintain and repair ! All the computerised stuff is either marketing nonsense to lure the gullable or to enable the car's fuel to be measured in parts-per-million so that the eco brigade is satisfyed. Personally, I'm all for an efficient means of transport, cheap and reliable, but cars are sold as all sorts of things they aren't these days (probably always were too..) . They are sold to demonstrate our social standing, our wealth, our sexuality, our professed sexual prowess, or taste in fashion/colour/gagetry appearance etc etc etc. If all we got was what a car ought to do... get us from A to B in comfort, warm and dryly, we'd all drive model T Fords with a box-shaped body on them. If anyone wants to know how their car works, get in touch and I'll tell you how and also what you'd best not try to fix too !

Are traffic lights dangerous?
Alexkaatsch thinks: I can give an example of lack of flow control being actually beneficial. A few years ago, I lived in London and very near the South Circular road in Streatham. After a particularly rainy night several main traffic-light systems got drowned and stopped working. The expected chaos the local-radio predicted never occured at all. Traffic just slowed down and filtered across junctions, even the really major ones such as the Brighton Road crossing the South Circular. Ever since then, I've had a very low regard for the imbecilic ramblings ussued forth from 'planners' vocal orrifaces.... just 'jobs-for-the-boys' as far as I can see.

Parking in the big city
Alexkaatsch thinks: In this age of global-warming and the politically correct desire to make us use the bus or the train instead.... we need a fundamental new principal entrenching in out governance. We need ALTERNATIVES if other things are to be removed from our freedom to do them. No parking in town ?..... good bus serevice and parking OUT of town (but at the LEAST as good as before, hopefully better ). No dogs allowed to poop in the park ?.... somewhere to PUT the wretched stuff when one's dog (a natural creation creating a natural secretion to disperse in a natural manner) follows it's totally natural inclination ! ... of course one might argue that natural selection should be allowed to run it's course and infected children which are either too stupid or too disobedient or whose parents are too negligent to teach them should follow their natural course, hmmmn, but I imagine that few parents would agree with that particular approach, lol !

Should divorce be banned or should the law be made easier?
Alexkaatsch thinks: Speaking as a middle-aged old poof, I got no use for marriage... so divorce is thereby irrelevant to me. HOWEVER I'm also keen to enhance the concept of marriage too ! To 'marry' is an enormously big step for a couple to undertake. You are legally coupling with another person to essentially become a single entity that holds the sway of two people. Your hopes, dreams and entire future with be largely affected by this union and it should be supported as much as possible to enable the protagonists to remain united and contented (if not happier than they might otherwise be if not enjoined) by our democratic government as well as the various religious groups from whom the concept seems to originate. I'm against any individual or group getting a better deal than everyone else but the nature of humanity, it's sexuality, propagation and general stability are the better for stable marriages rather than for ill-thought-out and hastily discarded ones.

How to avoid complexity stealing your energy?
Alexkaatsch thinks: Hey, do what I do... be belligerant or vote with your feet ! If a company or service is too complicated I give it ONE chance at redemption. I ask a PERSON to sort out their company's silly systems FOR me and when they've done it I'll consider using it. If this is too much for them to cope with, they can forget about the money in my pocket.... they'll never have the chance to get at it ! How many internet sites have you come across which have such convoluted rules and formats, varigated accessability etc, that you just can't be bothered to get involved ? You often find they either simplify or they evaporate, heh heh !

Parking in the big city
ztyler thinks: How about riding a bicycle instead. It's good exercise and doesn't harm the environement.
