what will you give up for simplicity
BigA thinks: 3 useful features, rather than 15 I rarely use. 2 pairs of good shoes rather than 15 poorer ones. No cable instead of wires all over the place. Paying to rent stuff I need rather than owning it (cars, holiday homes, etc.) "Less is more" is what simplicity means to me - and it doesn't have to cost more. It just requires the discipline to get a few things right rather than spreading energy and attention, which only brings complexity.

Would a flat tax be simpler?
BigA thinks: Great idea Boston1. The problem is that everyone is too hung up on this being fair and politically correct, so that 99,99% of people are happy. A flat tax would make life easier for all of us. I just think it would be hard to do because of all the special interests that control politics in most countries.

simplicity is merely increased convenience
BigA thinks: Don't agree that people desire complexity. Look at all great people and philosophers - most of them come to the realization that after complexity comes simplicity. Complexity is easy - just give in and go with the flow. Simplicity requires fighting back. Writing something in 1 page is harder than writing 20 pages, if it should convey the same meaning. Choosing two pairs of good shoes is harder than giving into temptation and buying 15 poor quality pairs. Less is more.

Leisure Centre Hell
BigA thinks: Agree. Here's a proposal to you - put your bike in the trunk of your car and drive to the woods. Here you can do all the same things, while enjoying better air quality with no stunk of other people's sweat!

Business Benefit
BigA thinks: Most products today have the basic features and quality we need. One of the last differentiators is convenience, which equals simplicity to me. So, simplicity is a main driver for me to buy something.

Buying food.
paris thinks: What an excellent idea! Such a device would save so much time during shopping and it would be very useful for those suffering from allergies

Flat TV
w84it thinks: I have a TV, DVD player, Laptop, CD player, digital set top box for cable TV, playstation, amplifier, speakers.

My life would be so much simpler if there was a single Flatscreen with built in DVD, hard drive, and digital driver for cable. Any additional boxes should fit onto it in a modular way and remove the need for cables.
