Are traffic lights dangerous?
Geek1 thinks: I think I saw that article you're mentioning. The town was in the Netherlands. It may work there, but somehow, I doubt removing traffic signals could be a good solution for cities such as New York or London where traffic is overflowing and a city grid system is already in place for directional traffic.

Is physical media now absolete?
Geek1 thinks: i woudn't say it's obsolete, i'd say it on the fast track to extinction at the rate technology is moving these days.

Are hot water heaters outdated?
Geek1 thinks: How about vacuum cleaners? Although, the Dyson brand of vacuums has some interesting innovations, the industry as a whole seems to still be in the stone age.

RSS, not so simple syndication?
Geek1 thinks: The idea of RSS is great. My take on it is that we are in the early stages of seeing how this technology will be used. It may turn into a sort of on-demand service or it may become a new form of information exchange where you pick and choose the information you want, in a sense, creating your own information portal. RSS may be trendy and difficult to understand now, but I think it's the beginning of something that will revolutionize the way we receive information.

Is cash necessary anymore?
Geek1 thinks: I prefer using my credit card to cash. I can look at my statement each month and know exactly how much I spend. That definitely makes my life much more simple.

What type of technology has had the most impact?
badmojo thinks: By far, the ability to transfer digital information has changed the way we interact with the world. From the internet to entertainment, it has become something that we could not live without. Computer, household appliances, even toothbrushes now use digital technology to provide us with better, smarter products.

What type of technology has had the most impact?
dingo thinks: i think in the long run healthcare innovations will have the greatest impact on the world today. it will force people to move to new areas due to population growth. it will change the way we see the world.

Is physical media now absolete?
idesign thinks: I see physical media going away. At this point, I no longer use CDs to listen to music and I carry other digital files on a USB flash drive. Movies I still watch on DVD, but I have been known to watch via download services such as CinemaNow. The only thing keeping me from ridding myself of DVDs altogether is the inability to watch downloaded files on my TV. As soon as I resolve that, I can't see using physical media again.

Merging Man and Machine
Techy23 thinks: I think this would be an interesting option, but it could be decades before we see something like this being used in our everday lives. How amazing would it be to have digital readouts show as replacable tatoos on your skin almost like LCD straight to your skin surface. Eventually, it seems, if things move in this direction, we will become a sort of bionic human. What next? Cell phones embedded in my ear?

Merging Man and Machine
GenC thinks: I guess the ultimate questions people are concerned about when it comes to technology that carries personal information is the potential for misuse of that information by others. I personally have no problem with this type of technology, but it seems that many would also regard it as "big brother" watching over us. I'm sure at some point in the distant future this will not seem so outragious as we have bionic body part replacing those human parts that have failed us.

What type of technology has had the most impact?
Maverick thinks: Tough call, each has had a substantial impact in it's own right. No need to dispute which is more relevant. Both digital and medical technology has changed our lives in both good and bad ways. With each new innovation, it is only inevitable that new issues will come up that will see it in a negative light. All in all, any progress toward better living is good progress.

Is cash necessary anymore?
chali38 thinks: I think that we are almost acheveing levels were cash is not neccessary, but having said that cash still plays an important part of our daily expenditures. espercially small expenditure that we make on a day to day basis. For instance i don't see myself spending 35p on a bar of chocolate, milk or even a stamp using my plastic from retailers who charge interest, i.e 50p or 75p extra. cash at hard is quicker, reliable and without complications in terms of how much you are really spending. Sometimes you identify needs and therefore, cash at hard is required for immediate use and you do not need finding the nearest ATM.

Is cash necessary anymore?
Ionik thinks: [65+0.5*(numer of years past from now)]% for A and [35-0.5*(numer of years past from now)]% for B, but not more than 90% A or less than 10% B, after 50 years.

It is good to progress in technology, but always are threatening aspects not revealed yet. So it is important to have some altenatives which we can chose by impact and experience.

What is simplicity to you?
innov8 thinks: Focusing on the essentails is what makes a good product. Focus on a particular function and you can better target a market that needs that product. I want something that works and works well, is easy to use, and makes things easier for me.

What type of technology has had the most impact?
LuckyShoe thinks: The digital age is upon us and we are now able to communicate in ways we never thought possible. We have instant access to anything and everything imaginable. It almost seems that we now have more information than we know what to do with. We are now a truly global society despite language and cultural differences. The internet, digital technology, computers.....all have created a revolution in the way we perform everyday activities.
