RSS, not so simple syndication?
philipsfan thinks: RSS has many useful possiblities. We just need to have the tools to make personlization and viewing the information easier.

Can computer gaming make you smarter?
philipsfan thinks: Children need to learn to use their imagination which is something that is not done while playing computer games. When I was a child, I used to play with a pile of dirt and a shovel and was content to do it all day. I don't have anything against gaming as an activity, but a childs life should involve much more than hours in front of a television playing computer games.

Jetlag Relief
philipsfan thinks: I've heard of many people using melatonin with some succes, but overall I think it's up to the individual to prepare before a trip to adjust to the time zone they will be visiting. I don't think there is a quick fix to eliminate jet lag. Light therapy may be the easiest solution as most sleep experts prescribe it to manage sleep disorders which is essentially what jetlag is.

Remote Healthcare
Nellc thinks: While I think it could be less expensive, more expdetious, I think a doctor does need to see the patient as much as the patient needs to see the doctor. Human touch and interaction in a time of crisis of health is so very important to the health and healing of the patient.

Remote Healthcare
chic50chic thinks: An averagely well informed patient should be able to communicate sick condition remotely to a psychologically tuned up doctor to enable latter do some meaningful diagnosis and so therefore provide some good cure remotely through a presription. However situation may be special in case it involves surgery. Communication access shall be very vital for success in this case, for a country like mine, Ghana.

Remote Healthcare
JBonnin thinks: Such a system is not achievable to the third world right now. If basic health is not ensured to a large part of the population, you can figure out about access to computers.

To those who do have access to the internet, there are already loads of sites providing health information.

Another issue to be considered is that one same symptom can be caused by several different diseases.

Remote Healthcare
Simpler thinks: If used with care and as a supplement I think this is a great concept. Seems so obvious. It can only be because of certain interest groups dragging their feet that this is not more widespread. We have to find ways to deal with the future health challenge when the baby boomers retire. This is such a way, I think...

I wonder why exactly isnt it more widespread already? The technology and applications are there, as far as I know...

What happens when the power goes out?
tlittleton thinks: There was a major interest in this a few years back when I first heard the term 'life caching'. There needs to be more awareness of data storage for both business and personal use. I like the idea of being able to store everything online (address book, phone numbers, photos, memories, to-dos etc) and have it be totally portable. If the same systems used to store business critical data were used for personal use e.g. storing info across many servers across the world surely there would be more interest in getting data storage right.

Cell Phones in Cars
englishdanny thinks: The problem with mobile phones in cars is that they divert attention away from the task of driving. Its not whether you have a "Handsfree". Think about it! If you got involved in a arguement with, say for instance your wife/girlfriend on your mobile whilst driving, would you be paying attention to the road ?

Cell Phones in Cars
Catnip thinks: I agree that it is the focussing on discussion with someone not in the car that is the danger, so improved technology is not the key to more safety.

Are schools necessary anymore?
herman thinks: Books will disappear from their shoulders. Knowledge will be given much much more easy to comprehend. Knowledge by gaming, statistics, physics, biology, etc. etc.

Put a group of creative individuals together on a topic and some game-developers.... Mostly one will need hardly any words.

Learning by gaming is the future.

On schools they may work together to get some results. Or just playing chess etc. Sports...

Radio's future?
RadioHirschlerNet thinks: I think, radio as we knew it has a brilliant future. I worked for radio as a reporter for over a decade before moving into marketing radio. All through my years as a reporter, I was yearning for a technology that would allow for simple, versatile, flexible and fully mobile reporting from anywhere and everywhere. I used ISDN codecs in remote places in Lappland and it was a drag - I still remember the cold I had after trying to make it work for almost a day. But it worked finally and the result was worth it: A lively reportage about an ice sculpturer from the spot where it had happened, when it had happened, delivered over the telephone to the studio and out to the world.

Let's use todays techology to deliver exciting content to our listeners from wherever we are to wherevere they are - and vice versa. We are finally there - we have a wide choice of options.

The future of radio is very bright in my opinion. It's not so much about which technology - it's about the right technology for the right situation to deliver the right content the best way.

Radio - to thrive - should:

* be live whenever possible

* be archived and searchable

* be ubiquitous

* interact

Does Simplicity wear a tie?
peterlins00 thinks: I think tie is useless! It also very uncomfortable. Seniority is in our minds!
